Qurbani – The Sacred Islamic Ritual of Sacrifice

Qurbani – The Sacred Islamic Ritual of Sacrifice

Qurbani, also known as Udhiya, is one of the most significant Islamic rituals performed during Eid-ul-Adha. It is a practice that symbolizes obedience, devotion, and submission to Allah (SWT). Every year, Muslims around the world perform Qurbani by sacrificing animals such as goats, cows, or camels, following the Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim (AS).

At The Warsi Farm, we understand the spiritual importance of Qurbani and aim to provide a service that is not only professional but also aligned with the Islamic values of purity, honesty, and sincerity.

🌙 The Meaning Behind Qurbani

The ritual of Qurbani commemorates the ultimate act of faith when Prophet Ibrahim (AS) was commanded by Allah (SWT) to sacrifice his beloved son, Prophet Ismail (AS). In complete submission, he prepared to fulfill the command, but Allah replaced Ismail (AS) with a ram, rewarding Ibrahim’s (AS) obedience.

This great sacrifice teaches us that true devotion means putting Allah’s command above everything else, even above our most beloved possessions.

📖 Islamic Guidelines for Qurbani

Performing Qurbani comes with specific rules and etiquettes:

  • Eligible Animals – Goat, sheep, cow, or camel.

  • Age Requirements – Goat/sheep must be at least 1 year old, cow/buffalo 2 years, and camel 5 years.

  • Animal Condition – Healthy, without defects, blindness, or lameness.

  • Time for Qurbani – After the Eid prayer on 10th Dhul-Hijjah until the sunset of 12th Dhul-Hijjah.

  • Distribution of Meat – Sunnah is to divide the meat into three equal parts: one for the family, one for relatives/friends, and one for the poor and needy.

By following these rules, Muslims ensure their Qurbani is valid, accepted, and brings barakah into their lives.

❤️ Spiritual Benefits of Qurbani

Qurbani is more than just slaughtering an animal; it is an act that carries deep meaning:

  • Closeness to Allah (SWT) – Showing gratitude and obedience.

  • Charity and Sharing – Providing food to the poor and hungry.

  • Reviving a Sunnah – Continuing the practice of Prophet Ibrahim (AS).

  • Unity and Brotherhood – Families and communities coming together to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha.

It is a reminder that our wealth, possessions, and even our lives are entrusted to us by Allah, and we must be ready to sacrifice them in His way.
